Stop by between 1 and 6 pm on Saturday, June 17 to discover the exhibition Terrarium and our immersive installations. Don’t miss our talk at 2 p.m. with scientists Dr. Elena M. Bennett and David Grinspoon, moderated by Damian Siqueiros from Terra Sapiens Studio as they explore the scientific inspirations in the creation process of the installation Terrarium.

Talk: Bridges between Art and Science for Ecological Healing

Age of Union is pleased to invite you to the conversation between scientists Dr. Elena M. Bennett and David Grinspoon, moderated by Damian Siqueiros. The discussion will explore the scientific inspirations in the creation process of the installation Terrarium, currently showcased at the Centre. The panellists will present the reality of climate change, propose viable solutions for possible positive futures, and advance the role of art in a socio-ecological healing process. Creating bridges between art and sciences, you will be invited to participate in the reflection during a question period. The event is free and will be held in English.

Elena Bennett
Dr. Elena M. Bennett is a Professor at McGill University (Montreal, QC) and CRC in Sustainability Science. She holds a BA in Biology and Environmental Studies from Oberlin College (Ohio), an MSc in Land Resources from the University of Wisconsin and a Ph.D. in Limnology and Marine Sciences from the University of Wisconsin. Her interests focus on questioning ecosystem services, and the benefits people obtain from ecosystems, as humanity has always depended on ecosystems to access resources. Dr. Bennett’s research aims to improve the sustainable management of working landscapes for the provision of multiple ecosystem services. She received many awards and recognitions for her contributions, such as the Web of Science Highly Cited Researcher from Clarivate.

David Grinspoon
American astrobiologist and author David Grinspoon is Senior Scientist at the Planetary Science Institute (Tucson, AZ) and was the inaugural Chair of Astrobiology at the U.S. Library of Congress. His research focuses on climate evolution on Earth-like planets, potential conditions for life elsewhere in the universe, and the planetary scale impacts of human activities on Earth. He is involved with several interplanetary spacecraft missions and is currently on the science team for NASA’s DAVINCI
mission which will launch to Venus in 2029. Grinspoon has won many awards and recognitions including the Lifetime Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
